Progress for a New Generation (“PNG”) is a network of young progressive professionals from Generations X and Y who have come to the realization that there is a void of meaningful progressive candidates and elected officials who represent our interests and those of the millions just like us. Therefore, we have found that in order to change the world, we need to engage in discussions, network and support candidates that share our views and believe on winning and speaking out on issues with long term consequences

MISSION – PNG is a network of young professionals, students and activists seeking to engage the apathetic progressives of our generation and support competitive, like-minded elected officials who share our mindset and ideals.

GOALS – Serve as the clearinghouse for progressive ideas from those outside the current establishment and provide a voice to those who get lost in the strong cacophony from both the far right and the far left that have taken over political discourse in our country; create a network of like-minded progressives to advance our ideals; support candidates; providing financial contributions; staff recommendations; volunteer recruitment; access to a national network of young elected officials; young professionals, students; activists to our endorsed candidates and promote both ideas and ideals that will benefit those that are not currently part of the process.

ACTIVITIES – Fundraising and political events with established and up-and-coming progressive politicians; networking and social events; community events and discussions with political and social leaders; and PAC priority meetings.

ISSUES/PLATFORM – The current generation of successful young professionals, students and activists, although traditionally voting Democratic, have also tended to stay silent regarding many issues and have not engaged in the political process, especially on the local and state level. While young conservative professionals have expanded their agenda and had their issues and voices heard throughout the nation, young progressives have continued to stay quiet. The time for silence is over.

Progress for a New Generation believes that the promise of America is a society that values the lives and dreams of all of its citizens. In order to fulfill this promise, PNG believes that everybody must recognize their shared purpose and duty to each other in an increasingly interconnected world. Towards that end, we support progressive policies that move our nation forward.

Our prosperity depends on the development of our national potential, which can only be done with a first-class public education system. We believe in investing in our primary, secondary, and college institutions because we recognize the immense return on that investment. We welcome genuine educational reform that seeks to improve the education of all students and reject those reforms that seek to benefit a select few at the expense of many.

Health care in America should be a right, not a privilege. We believe that all Americans must be granted basic access to affordable health care, and that government must play a role towards ensuring that access. Providing primary care to millions of uninsured Americans through our emergency rooms is both ineffective and inefficient, and thus we support a more rational and equitable system of health insurance.

It is the duty of every generation to leave this world in at least as good of a shape as it found it. The exploitation of our land, water, and air at the expense of future generations must be prevented. We believe that individuals and industry must pay the true costs of doing business, including the environmental cost that is unfairly shouldered by society.

All Americans are created equal, and thus they must be entitled to equal opportunity. Our forefathers rejected the feudal system of having nobility and landed gentry, and thus we reject a system where success must be inherited or obtained though virtue of one’s position in life and cannot be earned. All of us, regardless of our demographic profile or our social standing, must see that we live in a country where all have the chance to succeed, and where no one is relegated to second-class status.
